Symposia & conferences

IMHA was born out of the tradition of biennual symposia on maritime health starting in Eastern and Western Europe. The first join symposium was held in Turku, Finland in 1991. With only one delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tradition of ISMH has grown into the world’s leading scientific symposium of maritime health and medicine. IMSH are organized by local committees with host locations chosed by the IMHA Board of Directors. ISMH are generally 4-day events where martitime health professionals and industry partners from around the world share knowledge related the health and wellbeing of seafarers and fishers.
