Preliminary
Programme IMHA workshop 12-13 October 2007 – Brest – France
The
increase in prevalence of overweight and the related diseases in the general
population and in the maritime professions as well, calls for more activity in
prevention. There is a lack of experience of effective interventions in the
population in general and there are no significant experiences in seafaring.
There are, however, some evidences showing effective prevention of further
aggravation of overweight and the related diseases in the high risk groups
(e.g. pre-diabetes).
Workshop
on Metabolic diseases in Seafarers that will be held in Brest from 12 – 13 October 2007 will gather respectable group of
professionals that will try to set the path of solution of that problem.
